Loud T-Shirt Talks! (PJs and silly costumes optional, the only thing that’s not optional, is clothing)
Did you know we can spend upwards of 80 per cent of our day communicating? In fact, listening and speaking alone can make up about 75 per cent of our daily communication. For most of us, listening and speaking develops effortlessly from birth. For children who are deaf and hard of hearing, that’s not the case. We start processing sound in the womb so by the time a baby is diagnosed with hearing loss, that child has lost thousands of hours of access to spoken language. The good news is that with the right therapy, these children will learn to listen and talk at the same pace as their hearing peers!
Children’s Hearing & Speech Centre of BC (CHSC) provides critical listening and spoken language therapy to children who are deaf and hard of hearing from birth to grade twelve, so they can learn to listen and talk – for themselves. But we can’t do it alone!
The COVID-19 outbreak has forced us to cancel all our upcoming in-person Speech & Hearing Month events. These events help fund our critical listening and spoken language programs and were projected to raise over $40,000. Just because we can’t be together in person doesn’t mean we can’t mobilize and support an amazing cause!
HELP US OUT! From now until we come out of COVID-19 hibernation, make some noise for children who are deaf and hard of hearing by wearing your LOUDEST T-SHIRT on your next video conference call. Help us reach our goal of $25,000!
Let’s have some FUN while we are social distancing and raise critical revenue for CHSC at the same time. It’s like a “Jean’s Day”, but with a little more pizzazz!
